baby quilt, approximately 42"x 42"
Hand-dyed cotton fabrics, wool batting.
Front: pieced; Back: whole cloth; tied.
The main front fabric is a breakdown silkscreen piece, produced by painting thickened dye on a silkscreen, letting the pattern dry, and then printing through that screen with more thickened dye. Each pull of the screen makes a different image, and a rich mysterious cloth is produced! The first technique used on the "border" fabric was clamp-resist, followed by shibori.
The back is a much calmer piece of fabric using a rollingtechnique that I call snail.
